  • Summary

The subjective nature of the human experience is determined by perception of sensation. The ELL creates a subjective and immersive experience; all five senses are stimulated, altering participants' perception, opening them to a alternate realm - LazyLand.

    Full description of the concept

The ELL is experiential art. Participants must sit down and interactively ride it to fully experience it. Light, sound, vibration, scent, and even taste are stimulated and synchronized to create a state of hyper-stimulation. Thereby, altering participants' perception, allowing them to dissociate from their sense of self, and become open to an alternate realm of human experience—LazyLand. No one can effectively describe what LazyLand is like. It must be experienced to be appreciated.
The version of the ELL we will be bringing is a 2 person loveseat version. Currently, we have a 3mX3m tent to shelter it, not the most aesthetically pleasing structure. So we are open to working with an appropriate camp if one is available to offer it shelter and power. The ELL requires an operator to be present for it to work for participants, this is another reason an appropriate placement for it would be an esplanade based camp rather than in the open playa, that way we or other camp mates can be available to operate. The ELL will need around 500w or 2-2.5 amps for peak power demands. It also requires a fairly dark quiet space; placement with or nearby a loud sound camp would not be ideal.
The ELL does have a risk of inducing seizures in individuals with epilepsy or other photo sensitive seizure disorders. The ELL has a warning in the very beginning of the experience that warns such people to exit the ELL. In the 24 burn events we have taken it to, not one individual has ever had a seizure.

    About the group/Artist

MightyMike the Fluffer King and Queen Amberzon created the Electric Lazy in 2010. Since then we have taken a version of the Electric Lazy to burns around the world. 8 BM and 17 Regionals; Element 11, YOUtopia, Bequinox, Forgotten City/Event Horizon (Las Vegas), Saguaro Man, FFFFFFF/SAFT (Swiss), and Crème Brulee.

How do you plan to Strike the Project?

The ELL is self contained. Everything that goes into build is broken down and reused in future burns. Operators are doing constant moop sweeps of participant waiting area, and through sweep is performed at end of event.

    Aerial Footprint of your installation

    2.5m X 2.5m alone. If housed in tent, 3mX5.5m.

How can other burners co-create with you?

Looking for better place to place the ELL for the burn than our tent, if a camp is willing to host it. Volunteers to operate the ELL are also very welcome as we typically operate the ELL all night every night my wife and I rarely get a chance to play together at burns.

    What is this?

Congratulations! You've stumbled upon something special. Kiez Burn is a platform that allows you to share your dreams.

      Details

    • Do you need electricity from the grid? How much in Watts? * Yes, 500w peak.

    • Will there be light? Most of the light is experienced internally by participants. Will have small lite sign and ambient lighting inside tent structure.

    • Will anything burn? * No

    • What is your audio footprint? * Fairly quiet. Makes some vibrational noises and we play some light music for the participants waiting in line which helps mask noise from the ELL.

    • What’s your ecological footprint? Very low power use in standby and completely off when unmanned. Peak power demand is 500 watts.
